To become a skilled voice actor, you must put in a great deal of effort. You must be committed to the learning process, be open to constructive feedback, and be patient. It is difficult to break lifelong reading-aloud habits, and frustration is expected in the beginning.
Many voice over coaches offer beginner voice-over workshops. To determine which program or package is best, an instructor will listen to one or two readings of short scripts. There are also online voice over training programs and seminars, which include one to two-day workshops followed by the creation of a demo track. Other programs provide a set number of voice over lessons followed by demo production. However, I have not found these short workshops to be effective for people just starting out in their careers.
While generic seminars can be a helpful investment to refine existing strengths, they usually only leave you with a few key takeaways. As a primary source of foundational technique-building instruction, a short workshop is not the best choice for a beginner.

I’ve resisted offering all-inclusive packages because I believe that one-on-one voice over coaching or a small group setting focused on individual improvement is the only way to make real progress. That is why I teach only one-on-one in Atlanta.
