Put your voice, acting, and interpretive ability to work with personalized coaching from one of the industry’s most skilled and experienced coaches.
It takes considerable effort to become a top voice over artist. You must be dedicated to your studies, open to constructive criticism, and patient. Breaking lifelong reading aloud habits is difficult, and frustration is to be expected in the beginning stages of training.
Many voice over coaches in New York provide beginner voice over workshops. An instructor will listen to one or two readings of short commercial scripts to determine which program or package is best. There are also online voice over training programmes and weekend seminars, which typically consist of one to two day seminars or workshops followed immediately by the creation of a demo reel.
Other programs give a predetermined number of lessons accompanied by automatic demo production. However, I have not found these crowded workshops and cookie cutter courses to be helpful to individuals just beginning in their media careers.
Seminars and corporate workshops are a fantastic investment later on. However, they usually only leave you with a few key points to remember. The best use for them would be to improve on what you already do well behind the microphone. It is not the best choice for a beginner as a primary source of technique building instruction.
Do you think you can make it as a successful voice over artist without doing thorough market research? Do you believe you can compete with seasoned professionals if you have not mastered script acting, vocal pace, audio timing, diaphragm breathing, emotional inflection, or reading comprehension? Do you believe that you can handle learning all of this on your own?
A good living can be made as a freelance voice actor. Do not fall for the misconception that you can learn to do it quickly. In this competitive business, there are absolutely no shortcuts.
I give you a two-hour evaluation, as well as a candid, in-depth critique of your ability and potential, and develop a course of one-on-one instruction with extensive voice over lessons. This is the single most important investment you’ll make in your voice-over career. As you progress, we’ll decide when it’s best for you to create your demo.
I’ve refrained from proposing all-inclusive packages because I believe that one-on-one voice over mentoring or a small group setting focused on individual growth is the only way to make genuine progress. That is why I only teach one-on-one.
