Put your voice, acting, and interpretive ability to work with personalized coaching from one of the industry’s most skilled and experienced coaches.
Becoming a top voice-over artist is difficult. You need to have genuine dedication to the learning process, the willingness to accept constructive criticism, and a good deal of patience. Lifelong reading-aloud habits are difficult to break, and it’s easy to become frustrated in the early stages of learning.
Many other voiceover coaches offer introductory voice over workshops for beginners. This involves an instructor hearing one or two readings of short scripts to best determine which is the best program/package offered. There are also voice-over training and online programs out there that consist of one to two-day seminars or workshops followed by the production of a demo. Other programs provide a set number of lessons followed by production of a demo. However, I have not found these workshops and programs to be valuable for people at the very beginning of their careers.
Voice-over seminars and workshops are worthwhile investments. However, seminars generally leave you with only a few important and memorable pointers. They should serve as tools to make better what you already do well. For a beginner, however, a weekend-long program isn’t the right choice as a primary source of instruction on technique building.
Do you think that you can have a voice-over career without doing research on the marketplace? Do you think you can compete against seasoned professionals if you haven’t perfected pace, timing, breathing, inflection, or comprehension? And do you think you can do all of this on your own?
Performing voice overs is a great way to make a living. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can learn to do it quickly. It is a process that is unique to each individual. There are no shortcuts in this business.
